The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced HSE Contractor to provide hands-on health, safety and environmental support at a large automotive site in Leicestershire.

The site is a COMAH lower-tier establishment, so previous COMAH experience is strongly preferred.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HSE professional who can quickly assess existing arrangements, identify gaps and provide practical support to maintain and improve health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day HSE support across the site, working closely with operational teams.
  • Review, update and complete risk assessments and method statements where required.
  • Review existing HSE documentation and identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct gap analyses and develop practical action plans to address identified issues.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of effective health and safety procedures.
  • Provide practical advice and guidance to managers and employees on HSE matters.
  • Help ensure site activities comply with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • Support ongoing site safety activities and assist with resolving outstanding HSE actions.
  • Work independently, prioritising tasks and providing practical support from day one.

About You
  • Proven experience in a hands-on HSE role within an automotive or similar environment.
  • Previous COMAH experience, ideally within a lower-tier establishment.
  • Strong knowledge of risk assessments, HSE documentation and compliance requirements.
  • Experience identifying gaps in existing systems and implementing practical improvements.
  • Confident working independently and engaging with operational teams at all levels.
  • A proactive, practical approach, with the ability to hit the ground running.
  • Experience within automotive, vehicle refurbishment, engineering, manufacturing or workshop environments would be advantageous.

The Details
This is an initial 2–3 month contract, with the possibility of extension depending on business requirements. The client is looking for someone who can start as soon as possible.
Working hours are expected to be approximately 8am–5pm, although some flexibility may be required to support site operations.
The role will be offered on a day-rate basis.
